Brand new to printing Miniatures or to FDM printers? You’ve come to the right place!

  • What is an FDM printer?
    • FDM stands for Fused Deposition Modeling, which basically means that it is melting and precisely layering filament. The other option is a resin printer, which can produce models with much greater detail. Most people printing miniatures are using resin printers (and most miniatures are designed for resin printing), but for many people resin printing isn’t an option (for example they may not have an area that can handle the toxic fumes that resin printing generates or may already have an FDM printer and don’t want another printer).
  • Can you even print miniatures on an FDM printer?
    • Yes! However, it is important to have reasonable expectations. You will definitely be able to print proxy-quality miniatures and with a little work you will be able to print tabletop-quality miniatures. However, with the current state of technology you will not be able to print display-quality miniatures that you would enter in painting competitions.
